Prabhu Laxmikanth Lokare, a 23-year-old peon who received a 99.7% on the Class 10 exam, is allegedly illiterate. The allegation is being looked into as a result of the revelation.
Lokare’s strong academic performance helped him land a position as a peon at a local court in the Koppal district of Karnataka. According to the report, Lokare was chosen for the position based on his Class 10 grades when his name showed up on the final merit list for the peon’s recruitment exam on April 22, 2024. Lokare’s academic records will be investigated, the court has ordered.
The court’s judge became aware of Lokare when she noticed that the former was having difficulty with reading and writing. In the end, the judge asked the police to look into Lokare’s academic history through a private complaint.
On April 26, a FIR was submitted in this case. According to the FIR, Lokare allegedly took the tenth class exam right after the seventh grade and received a score of 623 out of 625. He may have excelled academically, but his inability to read or write in Hindi, Kannada, or English casts serious doubt on his qualifications.
The judge has ordered an investigation into whether or not other candidates obtained government positions in a similar manner. Additionally, the complainant has asked police to verify and contrast Lokare’s handwriting with his answer sheets from the Class 10 exam. The judge emphasized that deceptive academic records disadvantage deserving students.
In his defence, Lokare said that he appeared as a private candidate in the Class 10 exams in the year 2017-18. This exam was conducted by the Delhi Education Board. He claimed that the exam took place at an institution in Karnataka’s Bengaluru district.
