Sonu Sood, currently receiving praise for his action-packed film “Fateh,” recently shared insights about his experiences working with Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. The actor, known for his versatile roles, has previously impressed audiences with his performances in films like Salman Khan’s “Dabangg” and Shah Rukh Khan’s “Happy New Year.”
In a recent conversation with journalist Shubhankar Mishra, Sood spoke candidly about his interactions with the two Khans. Reflecting on his time working with Shah Rukh Khan, Sonu said, “I had fun working with both of them, but I think it was more interesting with Shah Rukh Khan because we traveled a lot together: London, America. We had a chartered flight, and we were about five to six people, so we traveled together. It used to be a lot of fun. We spent a lot of time, we played games.”
While discussing Salman Khan, Sonu Sood offered a contrasting perspective. “Salman Khan is not good at expressing himself, but if he likes somebody, he loves them from his heart. He will make sure that the person knows that he is caring for you,” Sood said.
Highlighting the key difference between the two stars, he added, “In the case of Shah Rukh Khan, he is a very expressive person. If he likes something, he makes sure to convey it. One common thing between them is that despite all the success, they know how to take care of individuals around them.”
Sonu Sood’s latest release, “Fateh,” has marked his debut as a director. The film, which hit theatres on Friday, has received a mixed response from critics. News18 rated the film 3.5 out of 5 stars, appreciating Sood’s action sequences but pointing out a lack of emotional depth in his performance.
“While Sonu Sood has mastered action, his vulnerability on-screen needs practice. Sood lacks an emotional depth in his performance. Although ‘Fateh’ is a fine attempt at direction, the writing could have been better. Sans the exaggerated action scenes, ‘Fateh’ doesn’t offer much. The characters’ backstories aren’t too explored and as such, actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, and Vijay Raaz feel wasted in the film. Jacqueline Fernandez offers nothing new and has no chemistry with Sonu Sood,” the review noted.
Despite its flaws, the film manages to keep audiences engaged. “Despite the clever metaphors and subtle attempts at humour, the story’s inconsistencies are glaringly obvious once the blood dries up. But the film is not too bogged down by this mess and manages to keep one hooked till the end. ‘Fateh’ makes for a decent watch, and fans of the action genre will have an explosive time in the theatres,” the review concluded.
With “Fateh,” Sonu Sood has shown promise as a director. His journey from being a beloved on-screen villain to a promising filmmaker has been noteworthy, and his candid reflections on Bollywood’s biggest stars add another layer to his evolving persona in the industry.
