Amid recent death threats directed towards Bollywood actor Salman Khan by Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, his ex-girlfriend Somy Ali has made fresh claims regarding the infamous blackbuck poaching case. In a recent interview, Somy revealed details of an alleged conversation she had with Salman at the time of the 1998 incident, emphasizing that the actor was unaware of the religious significance of the blackbuck to the Bishnoi community.
Somy recalled that Salman had mentioned to her that he didn’t know the Bishnoi community worshipped blackbucks. She also revealed that she was originally supposed to accompany Salman on the hunt but was asked not to join as Salman believed she scared away the prey. “Why should he apologise for something he didn’t know about?” she remarked, adding that it was unreasonable to demand an apology for an unintentional act. She also dismissed rumors of Salman being arrogant, saying it was not about ego but about ignorance of the situation at the time.
She expressed her belief that the Bishnoi community should understand that Salman’s actions were not deliberately harmful. Somy also revealed that she has been hunting with Salman in the past during outdoor shoots but admitted she personally does not enjoy hunting as a sport. Referring to the blackbuck incident, she said, “One time I didn’t go, he ended up catching the animal.”
Somy also expressed her concern over the threats Salman is receiving from Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, reiterating that while she no longer has any personal connection with Salman, she does not want anyone to be harmed. “I am anti-death penalty and anti-murder. I do not want anyone to be murdered, whether in Bollywood or Hollywood,” she said. Somy further shared her intent to visit India in November and possibly meet with Lawrence Bishnoi to understand his perspective.
The statement from Somy Ali comes shortly after Salman received another round of death threats last Friday. Mumbai Police reported receiving two threatening messages demanding Rs 5 crore from Salman, with warnings that if he failed to pay, his fate would be worse than that of recently murdered NCP leader Baba Siddique. Salman, who has been receiving death threats for some time, has tightened his security further following this latest development.
