Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her businessman husband Raj Kundra have responded to recent allegations of cheating involving a bullion trader, Prithviraj Saremal Kothari. The couple’s advocate released a statement asserting their innocence and confidence in the legal process.

In the statement, it was emphasized that an earlier police investigation had cleared Shilpa and Raj of any wrongdoing regarding an alleged scheme under their company, ‘Satyug Gold’. The advocate highlighted that documents proving legitimate payments had been submitted to the authorities during the initial investigation in 2022.

Despite this, Kothari proceeded with a private complaint under sec 156(3) CrPC, prompting a renewed investigation. Shilpa and Raj expressed trust in the fairness of the ongoing investigation and reiterated their readiness to cooperate fully with the authorities.

The statement also criticized the use of criminal proceedings for commercial disputes, citing legal precedents against such practices. Shilpa and Raj affirmed their intention to fight the allegations legally and reserved the right to counter-sue for malicious proceedings.

This development adds to a series of legal challenges for the couple, including Raj Kundra’s earlier arrest in 2021 in connection with allegations related to pornographic films and the recent seizure of properties by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The case is now in the hands of the Mumbai Sessions Court, awaiting further developments as investigations continue.
