Malayalam film actor Siddique has lodged a complaint with the Kerala Police against actress Revathy Sampath following her recent sexual harassment allegations against him. The complaint has been directed to the Director General of Police (DGP), according to the Kerala Police’s public relations officer (PRO).
Revathy Sampath has accused Siddique of sexually abusing her both physically and mentally when she was 21 years old. She made these allegations following the release of the Hema Committee Report.
In her statement, Revathy Sampath described a distressing incident that occurred after she had completed her Plus Two education. She said Siddique contacted her via Facebook under the pretense of discussing a film project. According to her, he initially approached her with terms of endearment and then proceeded to sexually abuse her during their meeting. “Siddique’s behavior was in stark contrast to the public persona he presents now,” she alleged.
Revathy Sampath further detailed the trauma she endured, stating, “He assaulted me both physically and mentally. Siddique’s actions caused severe mental trauma and adversely affected my professional life. The lack of support from the system made it difficult for me to come forward sooner. After the assault, Siddique acted as though nothing had happened, and everyone seemed to treat it as a normal occurrence. It felt as if they were all complicit.”
She described her desperate attempt to escape from the situation, saying, “I fled the scene, managed to get into an auto, and left. At that age, I did the best I could, but Siddique dismissed my concerns, leaving me feeling powerless.”
Siddique, who previously served as the general secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) and has appeared in over 300 Malayalam films as well as Tamil films like Jana and Bhaskar Oru Rascal, resigned from his AMMA position on Sunday in the wake of these allegations.
