A Mumbai court has convicted Sanjay Raut, a leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), in a defamation case brought by Medha Somaiya, the wife of BJP leader Kirit Somaiya.

The Metropolitan Magistrate’s 25th Court in Mazgaon sentenced Raut to 15 days in prison and imposed a fine.

Medha Somaiya’s complaint accused Raut of making unfounded and defamatory statements against her and her husband, alleging their involvement in a ₹100 crore scam related to the construction and maintenance of public toilets under the Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation.
