Popular Sambalpuri singer Ruksana Bano, 27, passed away on Wednesday night while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, hospital sources confirmed. Ruksana was being treated for Scrub Typhus, but the official cause of her death has not yet been disclosed by the hospital authorities.
In a shocking development, Ruksana’s mother and sister have alleged that she was poisoned by a rival singer from western Odisha, though they did not name the individual. According to the family, Ruksana had previously received threats.
“Around 15 days ago, Ruksana fell ill while shooting in Bolangir after consuming some juice. She was first admitted to a hospital in Bhawanipatna on August 27,” her sister, Ruby Bano, told reporters.
After initial treatment, Ruksana was referred to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir. However, as her condition worsened, she was transferred to a private hospital in Bargarh before eventually being shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
The deceased singer’s mother also released a video message reiterating these claims of foul play. The video has since gone viral on social media, sparking widespread speculation and concern among her fans.
The police have not yet commented on the allegations, and further investigation into the cause of death is expected.
