Salim Khan, father of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, addressed the shooting incident near their family’s Mumbai residence. Referring to those who threatened his son as “jaahil” (illiterate), Khan highlighted that Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has ensured additional police protection for the entire Khan family.
Speaking to India Today in Hindi, Salim Khan stated, “What’s there to talk about ye jaahil log jo kehte hain maar denge tab pata lagega na (These illiterate people say you’ll learn your lesson when we’ll kill you).” He emphasized that they have been provided with extra police protection and expressed confidence in the Mumbai Police’s efforts, noting, “If they’ve arrested two people today, that means they’re on it.”
Salim Khan revealed that Salman has been advised to maintain his usual schedule and refrain from discussing the incident publicly, as the matter is being handled by the police.
Meanwhile, footage of Salman Khan’s first appearance since the shooting incident emerged online. The actor was seen meeting Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde at his apartment, accompanied by his father, Salim Khan. The meeting was captured by news agency ANI and shared on social media.
The shooting incident occurred outside Salman Khan’s residence at Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai’s Bandra area on April 14. The Mumbai Crime Branch apprehended two suspects, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, from Bhuj, Gujarat. According to the police, the accused had conducted reconnaissance of Salman Khan’s residence thrice and planned to attack the spot where Salman interacts with his fans. The involvement of Anmol Bishnoi, brother of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, is suspected, with police highlighting threatening language used in a Facebook post.
