Rohit, SKY Dance To Beats Of Dhol; Fans Too Join

Team India received an enthusiastic welcome upon their arrival in New Delhi on Thursday morning following their T20 World Cup 2024 triumph. Rohit Sharma and his team landed in India via a special chartered flight arranged by the BCCI. Fans, braving the rainy weather, gathered in large numbers at the airport, holding placards and eagerly awaiting a glimpse of their cricketing heroes. Despite the early morning arrival, the crowd’s excitement was palpable as they celebrated India’s return as World Champions.

Upon landing, the players, their families, and staff members boarded a team bus and headed to ITC Maurya hotel. The hotel staff had prepared a special welcome, featuring a custom-made cake and tri-colour welcome drinks to honor the victorious team. Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, a dhol ensemble greeted the players. The rhythmic beats inspired Suryakumar Yadav and captain Rohit Sharma to join the dancers, much to the delight of the fans present.

The scene at the airport was one of jubilation, as the crowd cheered and celebrated India’s first ICC event victory in 11 years. One fan, who had been waiting since 4:30 am, expressed his joy, saying, “We have waited for this moment for the past 13 years. The team has made us proud by winning the World Cup,” referring to India’s last World Cup win in 2011.

The team had faced delays in Barbados, the final match venue, due to Hurricane Beryl, which had led to airport closures. However, a special flight with the call sign AIC24WC (Air India Champions 24 World Cup) was arranged, allowing the team to land in Delhi in the early hours of Thursday.

Following their arrival, the players are scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi later in the day around 11 am in the national capital. Afterward, they will embark on an open-top bus parade in Mumbai to celebrate their victory with fans.

This triumphant return marks a significant moment for Indian cricket, reigniting the nation’s passion and pride in their cricketing heroes.
