Actors Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal are preparing to welcome their first child together. The couple, who found love on the sets of the film “Fukrey,” married in 2020 during the pandemic and celebrated their union with family and close friends in 2022. Despite coming from different faiths, Richa and Ali embrace love “without filters.”

In a recent interview, Richa addressed the scrutiny they faced when deciding to marry. She emphasized the importance of standing firm in one’s choices with the support of immediate family, stating, “A human being is a human being first and when you go and fall in love, your search has no filters on. When you fall in love, that’s what it is.”

Richa also shared that she preferred her family to learn about her relationship with Ali from her directly rather than through the media. She waited until she was ready to discuss it with her family before making their relationship public.

The couple decided to go public with their relationship when Richa wanted to accompany Ali to the Venice Film Festival for the premiere of “Victoria & Abdul.” Recalling the moment, Richa said, “I remember I had to travel to be his plus one for the Venice Film Festival for ‘Victoria & Abdul’ with Judi Dench. I was like… I am not missing your Judi Dench red carpet for the world. He was like but no one knows, so I said let’s just tell them now, it’s time.”

In February this year, Richa and Ali announced her pregnancy. Richa’s latest project, “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” holds a special place in her heart as she started filming it shortly before her wedding. Reflecting on that time, she said, “I began shooting for ‘Heeramandi’ literally 10-15 days before my wedding. And at that time, there was no thought of motherhood in the immediate future on my mind.”

As she prepares for motherhood, Richa expressed uncertainty about the kind of upbringing she wants for her child, comparing it to planning a novel without knowing the story. “This is all very new for me,” she admitted.
