    Renowned Indian-Origin Doctor Shot Dead in Tuscaloosa, Alabama

    Dr. Ramesh Peramsetty, a prominent Indian-origin physician, was tragically shot dead in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Friday. Dr. Peramsetty, originally from Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati district, was a respected figure in the medical community and the founder and medical director of the Crimson Care Network, a group of local medical professionals. He died on the spot due to the shooting.

    Dr. Peramsetty was well-regarded for his contributions to healthcare, both locally in Alabama and within the broader community. He had a vast experience spanning 38 years in the medical field, specializing in Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine. Dr. Peramsetty graduated from Sri Venkateswara Medical College in 1986 and also held a Diploma in Child Health (DCH). He practiced not only in Tuscaloosa but also in four other locations and was affiliated with the Regional Medical Center.

    The Crimson Care Network Team expressed profound grief over the passing of Dr. Peramsetty. In a heartfelt Facebook post, the team said, “As many are aware at this moment, we have been informed of Dr. Ramesh Peramsetty’s passing. The Peramsetty family asks for us to give them privacy as they grieve his passing. They have received abundant outpouring of love and faith. We will continue to honor him as he would want us to do. Thank you for your understanding.”

    The post also requested thoughts and prayers for the Peramsetty family and the Crimson Care Network team as they navigate this challenging time. “Please continue to keep the Peramsetty and Crimson Care Network family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this challenging time. Our team is prepared to make more statements within the next few days. We will continue to honor his legacy. Our clinics remain open during the transition,” it added.

    Beyond his medical career, Dr. Peramsetty was known for his philanthropic efforts. He donated Rs 14 lakh to Menakuru High School in Andhra Pradesh, where he studied, and contributed to the construction of a Sai temple in his village. His significant impact on the local community was also recognized in the form of a street named in his honor in Tuscaloosa.

    Dr. Peramsetty played a crucial role during the Covid-19 pandemic, earning various awards for his dedication and service. His sudden death has left a void in both the local and global medical communities. Dr. Peramsetty is survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters, all of whom are settled in the United States.
