The highly anticipated sequel Pushpa 2: The Rule has made an explosive impact since its release on December 5, smashing box office records and solidifying its place as a blockbuster of epic proportions. Directed by Sukumar, the film has garnered immense praise from fans and critics alike, achieving remarkable financial milestones and further elevating Allu Arjun’s status as a megastar.
Amidst the soaring success of Pushpa 2, actor Siddharth found himself at the center of controversy for comments made during a promotional event in Patna. His remarks about the large crowd gathered to promote the film were perceived as dismissive, drawing criticism from fans and industry insiders. However, Siddharth has since addressed the issue during a press meet in Chennai for his own film, Miss You.
Speaking to the media, Siddharth expressed his respect for Pushpa 2 and its achievements, emphasizing the importance of audience support in cinema. He congratulated the team on their success and elaborated on his earlier statements, which some had misunderstood.
“I have a problem with the word ‘problem’ itself and don’t think I need to clarify on the same. Congratulations to the team of Pushpa 2 for the success,” Siddharth stated, as quoted by Hindustan Times.
He added, “The bigger the crowds that gather, the better. Let’s hope that the crowds will come to theaters also. Cinema needs to be healthy.”
Previously, Siddharth’s remarks about crowds being a promotional tactic—comparing them to gatherings at a JCB digging site—were met with backlash. He clarified that his comments were not intended to undermine the film’s achievements but to point out that crowd size does not always equate to quality or success.
Meanwhile, Pushpa 2: The Rule has shattered multiple records, becoming the fastest film to cross the Rs 1000 crore mark worldwide. Within just six days of its release, the film collected Rs 1000 crore globally, including Rs 645 crore from India across all language versions. The team celebrated the milestone with a celebratory post featuring a GIF of Godzilla, captioned “GodzillAA 😎🦙 #PUSHPA2HitsFastest1000Cr.”
The sequel continues the gripping story of Pushpa Raj, played by Allu Arjun, as he navigates escalating challenges in the world of red sandalwood smuggling. Fahadh Faasil reprises his role as the menacing SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, while Rashmika Mandanna returns as Srivalli. The addition of Jagapathi Babu to the cast adds further intrigue to the ensemble.
Critics and fans have unanimously lauded the film. News18 Showsha awarded it a perfect 5/5, calling it “an adrenaline-pumping ride that cements Allu Arjun’s position as the undisputed massy star of 2024.” Sukumar’s direction, coupled with powerhouse performances from Allu Arjun and Fahadh Faasil, has been highlighted as a major factor in the film’s success.
The Pushpa franchise has set new benchmarks in Indian cinema. The first installment, Pushpa: The Rise, released during the pandemic in 2021, became a global phenomenon with a worldwide collection of Rs 326.6 crore and earned Allu Arjun a National Award for Best Actor.
