Pune Car Crash: Builder Ordered Driver to Let Teen Son Drive Porsche, Says Driver

The ongoing investigation into the fatal car crash in Kalyaninagar that claimed the lives of two software engineers has revealed new details about the involvement of the teenager’s family. Vishal Agarwal, a prominent real estate developer and father of the 17-year-old boy accused of driving the Porsche Taycan, was arrested following testimonies that he permitted his underage son to drive the luxury car.

On Sunday, a tragic accident occurred when a Porsche Taycan, allegedly driven by the minor while under the influence, collided with a motorcycle, resulting in the deaths of two tech professionals. Initial claims by the teenager and his companions suggested that the family’s driver was at the wheel, a story also supported by Vishal Agarwal.

However, sources indicate that during police questioning, the family driver admitted to urging Vishal Agarwal to prevent his son from driving. Despite this, Vishal insisted on allowing his son to take the wheel. The teenager, currently held at an observation home by the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), is at the center of the investigation.

In the course of the inquiry, police have questioned Surendra Agarwal, the boy’s grandfather, about his knowledge of the events leading up to and following the crash. Authorities sought information regarding Vishal Agarwal’s actions post-incident, including any efforts to evade arrest and communication through a hidden mobile phone.

The tension surrounding the case escalated when reporters attempting to question Surendra Agarwal were obstructed by an associate, resulting in a heated exchange managed by police intervention.

Further, the police have detained one of the minor’s friends present during the accident to verify the sequence of events. The investigation involves the scrutiny of CCTV footage from various locations, including the boy’s residence, Cosie restaurant, Blak Club, and the accident site, to ascertain who was driving the Porsche at different points in the night.

Forensic teams have examined the Porsche for technical data such as GPS logs and camera footage to provide a clearer picture of the incident. The Yerawada police station currently holds the car.

As the investigation progresses, police have seized a mobile phone belonging to Vishal Agarwal, potentially containing critical evidence. The driver may also be presented as a witness to corroborate the account of events leading to the accident.

The court has granted police custody of Vishal Agarwal, who faces charges related to permitting his underage son to drive and the subsequent fatal accident. The police continue to gather evidence to build a comprehensive case against those involved.
