President Biden Wanders Off During G7 Summit in Italy

US President Joe Biden, attending the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Italy, was captured in a viral video appearing to wander away from a gathering of world leaders, prompting Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to guide him back to the group.

The video, which has garnered significant attention on social media, shows Biden turning to his right and walking away from a group that included prominent leaders such as British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. As Biden strayed from the group, Prime Minister Meloni reached out to steer him back.

The incident has sparked widespread concern and commentary on social media platforms. One user on X (formerly Twitter) remarked, “President Biden appears to start wandering off at the G7 summit and has to be handled back in. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was seen grabbing Biden to bring him back to the group.” Another user expressed, “This is what was caught on camera. Can you imagine what else he did right in front of world leaders? Such an embarrassment.”

This episode adds to a series of public moments that have raised questions about the 81-year-old president’s health and fitness for office. Earlier in the day, Biden’s awkward salute to Prime Minister Meloni upon his arrival at the summit also drew attention on social media.

The G7 summit, running from June 13 to 15, brings together leaders from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States to discuss pressing global issues.

Adding to the scrutiny, Biden was observed standing motionless for approximately thirty seconds during a Juneteenth event at the White House on Tuesday. The video of the incident shows Biden standing still until Philonise Floyd, the brother of George Floyd, approached him and initiated a brief exchange, concluding with a fist bump.

These incidents have fueled ongoing debates and concerns about President Biden’s health as he continues to fulfill his duties on the international stage. As the summit progresses, all eyes remain on Biden and his interactions with fellow world leaders.
