Bollywood actress Poonam Pandey, who recently staged a fake death as a purported awareness campaign for cervical cancer, has now claimed to have received legal notices from stakeholders associated with the controversial stunt.

Taking to her Instagram handle, Pandey penned a cryptic post where she expressed that the truth would be revealed, prompting a response from the stakeholders in the form of legal action. The actress, known for her bold persona, added a praying hands emoji to her caption, hinting at the gravity of the situation.

The saga began when Pandey’s official Instagram account announced her demise due to cervical cancer on February 2, sending shockwaves across social media platforms. However, a day later, she resurfaced in a video statement, clarifying that her “death” was staged to raise awareness about the disease.

This move sparked widespread condemnation, with notable figures from the film industry, including Kangana Ranaut and Karan Kundrra, criticizing Pandey for trivializing a serious issue and resorting to sensationalism for publicity.

The All Indian Cine Workers Association escalated the matter by demanding an FIR against Pandey and her manager, denouncing the publicity stunt as “highly wrong” and “unacceptable.” They emphasized that such actions tarnish the reputation of the film industry.

Adding to Pandey’s woes, a staggering Rs 100 crore defamation case has been filed against her and her former husband, Sam Bombay, by Faizan Ansari. Ansari alleges that Pandey’s actions amounted to manipulating emotions and trust while trivializing the seriousness of cancer.

Ansari has further filed an FIR with the Kanpur Police Commissioner, urging authorities to arrest Pandey and Bombay for orchestrating the deceptive stunt.
