Police Question Govinda Over Accidental Shooting; Skeptical of Actor’s Account, but Foul Play Ruled Out

Renowned Bollywood actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda was hospitalized following an accidental shooting early Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 4:45 AM when Govinda, 59, accidentally shot himself in the leg while handling his licensed revolver at his residence in Juhu, Mumbai.

According to initial police reports, the actor was preparing to leave for Kolkata and was placing the 20-year-old revolver into its case when it slipped from his hand, discharging a bullet that struck his leg. Govinda was immediately rushed to a critical care hospital, where doctors successfully removed the bullet. His condition is currently stable, and he is expected to be discharged later this week.

In a statement to the press, Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, explained, “He was getting ready to leave when the revolver accidentally misfired. The bullet hit his leg, but the doctors have removed it, and he is recuperating.”

Govinda himself released a voice message, reassuring his fans and well-wishers: “I was accidentally shot, but the bullet has been removed. I am grateful to the doctors, especially Dr. Agarwal, and I thank everyone for their prayers.”

The Juhu Police have questioned Govinda about the mishap, with sources suggesting there is no evidence of foul play, though they may record his statement again. Govinda’s daughter, Tina Ahuja, was also questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.

Several Bollywood personalities, including directors David Dhawan and actor Shatrughan Sinha, have visited Govinda in the hospital.
