Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked the public for their support and enumerated some of the historic decisions his government has made, such as the repeal of Article 370 and the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), in an open letter to every citizen on the eve of the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections.
Declaring that he is “at the threshold of completing a decade” in his partnership with the people, he has also asked for recommendations on how to fulfil the goal of a developed India, or Viksit Bharat.
Speaking to the public as “my dear family member,” the prime minister expressed his inspiration and motivation from the trust and support of 140 crore Indians.
He emphasized that his government has worked sincerely to raise the standard of living for the impoverished, farmers, young people, and women, and that the biggest accomplishment of this effort has been the change that has occurred in their lives in the last ten years.
“The success of efforts such as pucca houses through Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, access to electricity, water and LPG for all, free medical treatments through Ayushman Bharat, financial help to farmers, assistance to women through Matru Vandana Yojana and many more has been possible only due to the trust that you have placed in me,” wrote the prime minister.
