Eight members of a family were killed when their car fell into a canal near Mundadi village of Kaithal.
Among the dead were three children and women each, a youth and a driver. The driver was struggling for his life and breathing heavily when he was taken to the hospital. However, the doctors on duty declared him brought dead. The victims were on their way for a Dussehra celebration in the nearby village. After the accident took place, the villagers from the nearby village extricated all the bodies and including a critically injured driver.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today approved an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakhs from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs. 50,000 for the injured in the mishap in Kaithal, Haryana.
The Prime Minister’s office in a post on X stated:
“The Prime Minister has approved an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakhs from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased in the mishap in Kaithal, Haryana. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000 each.”
