Last week in Punjab, a tragic incident occurred where a 10-year-old girl died, suspectedly due to food poisoning after consuming a cake on her birthday. According to her grandfather, the entire family, including her younger sister, fell ill after consuming the cake, which was ordered online from a bakery in Patiala.
The victim, named Manvi, was captured in a widely shared video on social media cutting the cake and celebrating with her family just hours before her untimely demise. Her grandfather, Harban Lal, recounted that she cut the cake around 7 PM on March 24, and by 10 PM the same night, the entire family started experiencing sickness, with the sisters vomiting shortly after. Manvi, in particular, expressed extreme thirst and complained of dryness in her mouth before retiring to bed.
As her condition worsened overnight, the family rushed her to the hospital the next morning, where she was immediately attended to. Despite medical efforts, including oxygen support and an electrocardiogram (ECG) to monitor her heart activity, she tragically passed away. The family suspects that the chocolate cake, ordered from ‘Cake Kanha’, may have contained a poisonous substance.
An FIR has been filed against the bakery owner, and investigations are ongoing. The postmortem has been conducted, and a sample from the cake has been sent for testing. Authorities are awaiting the test reports to ascertain the cause of the tragedy.
