Pak Not To Host Champions Trophy 2025 Final If India Qualify: Sources

The upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, set to take place in Pakistan, has ignited significant discussion about India’s potential participation, given the longstanding political tensions between the two nations. With India and Pakistan not having played a bilateral series in over a decade, their encounters have been limited to international competitions. Though Pakistan did travel to India for the 2023 ODI World Cup, India has yet to confirm its plans for the Champions Trophy, leaving many questions unanswered.

Reports suggest that while Lahore is slated to host the final, there’s a possibility of relocating the match to Dubai if India qualifies. This scenario would allow India to play all its matches in the UAE, avoiding travel to Pakistan altogether. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has expressed strong confidence that the tournament will proceed entirely within Pakistan.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has publicly asserted that preparations are well underway, with venues across Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi scheduled to be ready. Naqvi remains optimistic about India’s involvement, stating, “The Indian team should come. I don’t see them cancelling or postponing coming here, and we are confident we will host all the teams in the Champions Trophy in Pakistan.”

His remarks reflect a hopeful stance, emphasizing that any necessary stadium renovations will be completed in time for the tournament, which is set for February 19 to March 9, 2025. Naqvi even hinted at a significant upgrade, claiming, “In a way, you can say that we are going to have a brand new stadium.”

The situation remains fluid, with the cricketing community watching closely to see how political dynamics might influence the tournament’s landscape. As preparations continue, both cricket and diplomatic tensions will play crucial roles in shaping the event and determining whether one of cricket’s most storied rivalries will unfold on Pakistani soil.
