Opposition Considering “Auctioning” Prime Ministerial Post, Claims PM Modi

The political atmosphere in India intensified as Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the opposition alliance, purportedly led by the Congress, of contemplating a “one year, one PM” formula to resolve leadership issues. Addressing a rally in Harda, Madhya Pradesh, Modi warned against such a plan, stating that it would be ridiculed internationally in the world’s largest democracy.

Reacting to Modi’s remarks, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla accused the opposition alliance of lacking a clear vision for the country, alleging that they aim to “auction” the prime ministerial post. He urged the alliance to announce their candidate for the position promptly.

Modi further cautioned voters about the potential consequences of a “five prime ministers in five years” scenario, which he attributed to the opposition alliance, primarily the Congress. He criticized the Congress for purportedly considering measures like wealth redistribution and inheritance tax, suggesting a disdain for certain socio-economic groups.

The Prime Minister accused the Congress of manipulating reservation policies for political gain, particularly by proposing religion-based quotas. He warned against diluting reservation benefits for backward communities and accused the Congress of disregarding the principles laid down by the Constitution and the vision of B.R. Ambedkar.

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, also a BJP candidate, echoed Modi’s sentiments at the rally. The BJP, gearing up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, emphasized the need for clarity in leadership and urged voters to support their party for continued economic growth and societal harmony.
