NEET-UG Exam Scandal: Bihar Aspirant Admits Receiving Leaked Paper Through Engineer Uncle

Amid serious allegations of a paper leak in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate 2024 (NEET-UG 2024), an aspirant from Bihar has admitted to receiving the leaked question paper through his uncle, a Junior Engineer. Anurag Yadav, 22, from Samastipur, confessed in a signed letter that his uncle, Sikandar Prasad Yadavendu, facilitated his access to the leaked materials.

Yadav explained that his uncle, who works at the Danapur Town Council, called him back from Kota, Rajasthan, assuring him that all necessary arrangements for the exam had been made. He disclosed that on the night of May 4, he was taken to Amit Anand and Nitish Kumar by his uncle, where he received the NEET question paper and answer sheet. Yadav was instructed to memorize the answers overnight.

тАЬWhen I sat to write the exam, the actual question paper matched the one my uncle provided,тАЭ Yadav stated in his confession. The NEET examination took place on May 5, but allegations surfaced that examination mafias obtained the question papers a day earlier.

These allegations have incited protests across several cities and led to petitions being filed in multiple high courts as well as the Supreme Court. The Patna Police have made significant progress in the investigation, arresting 13 individuals, including six examination mafias, four students, and three parents. The police uncovered the roll numbers and roll codes of 11 candidates connected to a solver gang. Following the transfer of the case to the Economic Offences Unit (EOU), the National Testing Agency (NTA) was asked to provide details on these candidates, who were subsequently summoned for the probe.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan acknowledged irregularities in certain locations and promised stringent actions against any NTA officials found guilty. “Candidates and parents should be assured. The Central government has taken this matter seriously. There is a need for improvement in NTA,” he stated.

The NEET-UG 2024 paper leak scandal has raised significant concerns about the integrity of the examination process, emphasizing the urgent need for reforms to ensure the credibility and fairness of such prestigious exams in the future.
