NEET-UG 2024: SC notice to govt, NTA on pleas for cancellation

In response to petitions seeking the cancellation of NEET-UG 2024 and a court-monitored investigation into purported irregularities in the medical entrance exam, the Supreme Court on Thursday requested responses from the Center, the National Testing Agency (NTA), and other parties.

The NTA filed separate pleas asking for the transfer of some pending high court petitions to the supreme court, and a vacation bench made up of Justices Vikram Nath and SVN Bhatti requested responses from the parties on these as well.

On July 8, the bench scheduled a hearing for these pleas.

Twenty students who took the medical entrance exam filed one of the petitions, which also asked the NTA and others to conduct the exam again.
The Supreme Court stated on June 18 that even in cases where there was “0.001 per cent negligence” on the part of anyone in the administration of the examination, it should be thoroughly addressed. The court made this statement while hearing separate pleas regarding the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate)-2024 examination.

The pre-medical entrance exam is administered across India by the NTA.
