NDA total tally 291, INDIA bloc 230; Modi’s swearing-in on Saturday

As per the final Election Commission tally released on Wednesday morning, the ruling NDA combine has secured 291 seats, while the BJP has maintained its lead with 240 of the 543 Lok Sabha seats.
The NDA is expected to form the next government at the Center after passing the majority threshold of 272 in the House.

The PM earlier chaired a meeting of the union cabinet where he discussed his plans for the next government and later he submitted his Cabinet’s reasignation to President Murmu. The oath-taking ceremony is designated for Saturday.

With 230 seats held by the opposition INDIA bloc, all eyes will be on the parties’ evening meeting at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s home.

The NDA side stacks up as follows — BJP 240, TDP 16, JDU 12, Shiv Sena Shinde 7, LJP (Ram Vilas) 5, Janata Dal (Secular) 2, RLD 2, AGP, RSP, Apna Dal Soneylal, All India Jharkhand Students Union, NCP, HAM and SKM at one each.

With 99 victories compared to 44 in 2014 and 52 in 2019, the Congress has become the single largest opposition party.

In the Lok Sabha, the Congress, for its part, was unable to secure more than 100 seats.

Congress 99, SP 37, TMC 29, DMK 22, Shiv Sena Uddhav 9, NCP Sharadchandra Pawar 8, AAP 3, JMM 3, CPIML 2, CPI 2, JKNC 2, RLP, BAP, and VCK one each are the figures that make up the INDIA bloc.
