In a harrowing incident that has shocked the nation, a mother in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka reportedly threw her six-year-old disabled son into a crocodile-infested canal following a quarrel with her husband. The woman, identified as Savitri, 36, and her husband, Ravi Kumar, 36, had been embroiled in frequent disputes concerning their son Vinod’s hearing and speech impairment. On Sunday morning, authorities made a grisly discovery when they retrieved the partially eaten body of the six-year-old from the jaws of a crocodile inhabiting the canal. The child’s remains bore chilling evidence of the encounter, with bite marks covering his body, and his right hand missing.
Savitri and Ravi Kumar, who earn their livelihood as house help and a mason helper respectively, now face severe legal consequences. Both parents have been apprehended by law enforcement officials and are being held accountable for their actions.
