More Than 200 Flights Delayed Due To Bad Weather In Delhi

Delhi and nearby areas were blanketed in dense fog on Saturday, severely disrupting flight operations and road traffic as North India remained gripped by a cold wave. Over 220 flights were delayed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport due to poor runway visibility.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, forecasting thunderstorms and rain for Saturday. Maximum temperatures are expected to dip by three degrees, with cloudy skies prevailing throughout the day. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature rose slightly to 11°C on Friday, attributed to an active western disturbance.

Several North Indian states, including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh, also experienced dense fog on Saturday. Airports in Varanasi, Lucknow, Agra, Patna, and Bareilly reported zero visibility, severely affecting flight operations. At Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, 19 flights—11 departures and 8 arrivals—were delayed.

On Friday, more than 250 flights were delayed at Delhi airport, and 26 trains ran late across the region. In Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur, dense fog caused a seven-vehicle pileup on a highway, leaving three people injured.
