Monsoon In Mumbai, IMD Predicts Rainfall In The Coming Days

One day following the arrival of the southwest monsoon in Mumbai, which resulted in extensive rainfall and flooding in numerous areas of the city, the IMD has forecasted thunderstorms accompanied by moderate to intense showers for Monday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports that favorable weather along the Maharashtra coast allowed the monsoon to arrive in Mumbai on Sunday, two days ahead of schedule.

After Sunday’s intense rains, water-logging occurred in numerous places, including Byculla, Sion, Dadar, Mazgaon, Kurla, Vikhroli, and Andheri. This had a negative effect on vehicle movement and resulted in protracted traffic jams.

Water collected on rails at several spots, causing delays in local train services, which are crucial to the city, according to officials.

According to a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official, the island city had an average of 99.11 mm of rain in the 24 hours that ended at 8 a.m. on Monday. Eastern Mumbai saw 61.29 mm of rain, while western Mumbai saw 73.78 mm.

The IMD has predicted cloudy sky with the possibility of thunderstorm along with moderate to heavy rainfall in the city and suburbs on Monday.

Mumbai saw overcast skies but there was downpour in most parts of the city since Monday.

The IMD has said that the southwest monsoon had advanced to coastal states and also to Maharashtra, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Goa, Karnataka and also to Chattisgarh.
