TEHRAN: Iran’s Assembly of Experts has officially appointed Mojtaba Khamenei as the country’s third Supreme Leader, succeeding his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in airstrikes on February 28. U.S. President Donald Trump reacted sharply, dismissing the 56-year-old as a “lightweight” and reiterating that no leader should be chosen without Washington’s approval, warning they “won’t last long” otherwise.
