On Monday, an Indian Air Force (IAF) MiG-29 fighter jet crashed in Barmer, Rajasthan, after experiencing a technical malfunction. The pilot successfully ejected from the aircraft before it crashed.
The MiG-29, which was on a routine night training mission from an Air Force base in the Barmer sector, encountered a malfunction and burst into flames after crashing into an unpopulated field near Uttarlai. The Air Force confirmed on X, “During a routine night training mission in the Barmer sector, an IAF MiG-29 encountered a critical technical snag, forcing the pilot to eject. The pilot is safe, and there were no reports of loss of life or property.”
A Court of Inquiry has been initiated to determine the cause of the accident, according to the Air Force.
Barmer District Collector Nishant Jain, Superintendent of Police Narendra Singh Meena, and other district officials have arrived at the site to assess the situation.
