Massive Dust Storm, Rain In Mumbai

The first rains of the season arrived in Mumbai today at 3 p.m., along with a tremendous dust storm that covered the entire sky. While the heat was relieved for residents of Mumbai and the surrounding area by rainfall, dusty winds surrounded the metropolitan’s skyline.
As commuters sought shelter during the storm, the abrupt change in the weather caused traffic to come to a complete stop.

In the Mumbai neighborhoods of Ghatkopar, Bandra Kurla, and Dharavi, there were strong winds and rain. Due to the severe dust storm, takeoff and landing operations at Mumbai Airport, one of the busiest in the nation, were halted for thirty minutes, according to sources.

According to a weather office update, isolated locations in the districts of Palghar and Thane are likely to experience thunderstorms with lightning, moderate to intense rainstorms, and gusty winds of up to 50–60 km/h over the next three to four hours.

Numerous locations experienced tree falls due to strong winds. A tree in the Aroli Sector 5 area of Navi Mumbai, a neighboring city of Mumbai, fell across a busy road. Though the strong winds persisted throughout the city, commuters parked their cars at a safe distance and traffic stopped. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
