Man Murders Wife with Snake Venom to Claim Rs 25 Lakh Insurance Money in Uttarakhand

Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand – In a shocking incident, a man from Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar district has been accused of murdering his wife by injecting her with snake venom in a bid to claim a Rs 25 lakh insurance payout. The case came to light after the victim’s brother filed a complaint with Jaspur police.

The accused, Shubham Chaudhary, allegedly killed his wife, Saloni Chaudhary, on August 11, less than a month after he took out a life insurance policy in her name. According to a report by the Times of India, Saloni’s brother, Ajit Singh, accused Shubham of killing his sister to claim the insurance money. Singh further alleged that Shubham had a history of abusing Saloni, both mentally and physically. Due to the escalating abuse and Shubham’s extramarital affair, Saloni had sought a divorce four years ago.

Despite multiple community meetings (panchayats) held to address the issue, Shubham’s behavior reportedly did not improve. According to Singh, Shubham had taken out the insurance policy on July 15, naming himself as the nominee and paying a Rs 2 lakh premium to the insurance company. Less than a month later, on August 11, Saloni was allegedly killed.

Following Singh’s complaint, a murder case has been filed against Shubham Chaudhary, his parents, and one other person under BNS Section 103(1) in connection with Saloni Chaudhary’s death. The case, initially registered as a suspicious death, has now been upgraded to a murder investigation.

Saloni’s viscera have been sent for further examination to gather evidence against Shubham. The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to uncover more details about the circumstances surrounding Saloni’s death.

The tragic incident has raised concerns about the abuse of life insurance policies and highlights the need for strict regulations to prevent such crimes.
