In a chilling revelation, a 32-year-old man, identified as Ram Lagan Gautam, has been arrested on charges of allegedly murdering his wife and two children in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The grim discovery unfolded in their residence in the Saravan Nagar area, under the jurisdiction of the Bijnor police station.
According to authorities, the heinous crime came to light when the landlord, Dhirendra Kumar, visited the premises after detecting a putrid odor emanating from the house. Inside, he found the lifeless bodies of Ram Lagan’s wife, Jyoti (30 years old), and their children, Payal (6 years old) and Anand (3 years old), stuffed in a sack.
DCP (South) Tej Swaroop Singh revealed that Ram Lagan Gautam, originally from Balrampur district, confessed to the murders during interrogation. The accused, who had been married to Jyoti for seven years, allegedly harbored suspicions of his wife’s infidelity, frequently surveilling her phone calls. “This often led to arguments between them. They had an argument on March 28 night as well, after which he killed her and the children,” Singh stated.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the murders occurred on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, with Ram Lagan spending subsequent nights in the same room as the corpses. Astonishingly, he continued his routine for three days, leaving the house in the mornings and returning at night, all while concealing the ghastly truth from neighbors by claiming his family had gone to celebrate Holi at a relative’s house.
The inability to dispose of the bodies due to the densely populated locality eventually led to the macabre discovery by the landlord. Police disclosed that the corpses have been sent for post-mortem examination, with further investigation underway to ascertain the full scope of the tragedy.
