Mamata Banerjee Injured, Falls Near Home, Receives Stitches On Forehead

Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, fell at home and sustained a “major injury” to her forehead. After receiving stitches, the chief minister was allowed to leave the hospital.

“The Chief Minister reported to our hospital today at around 7.30 pm with a history of fall within the vicinity of her home due to some push from behind. She had a cerebral concussion and had a sharp cut over her forehead and nose which was bleeding profusely,” Dr Manimoy Banerjee, Director of SSKM Hospital, said in a statement.
When the required tests were completed, the chief minister was brought to her home. Abhishek Banerjee, Ms. Banerjee’s nephew, as well as other family members went with her.

Photos of Ms. Banerjee on a hospital bed with blood on her face and a deep cut in the middle of her forehead were released today by the All India Trinamool Congress. Following a fall at her residence, the Chief Minister was taken to the SSKM Hospital in Kolkata.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished Ms Banerjee a quick recovery and said, “I pray for a quick recovery and the best health for Mamata Didi.”
