‘Maha Kumbh Showcased India’s Strength to the World’: PM Modi in Lok Sabha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, hailed the successful organisation of the Maha Kumbh, calling it a collective effort that highlighted India’s capabilities on the global stage. He also emphasized the festival’s message of unity.

“I have always stressed the significance of collective effort, and the world witnessed this during the grand Maha Kumbh. This truly reflects the spirit of ‘everyone’s effort,’” PM Modi remarked.

Extending his appreciation, he said, “On behalf of the House, I congratulate everyone who played a crucial role in organising this massive event, as well as all the devotees who participated.”

The prime minister further proposed that India should initiate river festivals to help preserve and rejuvenate water bodies.

The Maha Kumbh, the world’s largest religious gathering, concluded in Prayagraj on Maha Shivratri in late February. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared on social media that over 66.21 crore devotees had taken a sacred dip at the Triveni Sangam—the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers—throughout the festival.

Held from January 13 to February 26, the event attracted pilgrims from across India and beyond, including politicians, sportspersons, industrialists, and Bollywood celebrities.

Unprecedented security measures were in place for the festival, with AI-powered surveillance, anti-drone systems, and a dedicated administrative setup, as the Maha Kumbh Nagar was temporarily designated as Uttar Pradesh’s 76th district.
