Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 Concludes in Prayagraj; PM Modi says “I Am Sorry If…’

The 45-day-long Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj came to a grand conclusion on Wednesday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauding the massive religious gathering as a ‘Maha Yagya of unity.’ He also expressed his apologies to devotees for any difficulties they may have encountered during their pilgrimage.

“The sight of 140 crore citizens uniting in faith over 45 days at the Maha Kumbh of unity in Prayagraj is truly overwhelming! I have attempted to capture my thoughts after the completion of this grand event…,” PM Modi shared on social media platform X.

Emphasizing the significance of the occasion, the Prime Minister remarked, “When a nation’s consciousness is awakened, when it liberates itself from the constraints of centuries-old slavery and breathes with newfound awareness, it results in a spectacle like the one witnessed at the Maha Kumbh of unity in Prayagraj since January 13.”

The festival’s conclusion was marked by a dazzling fireworks display over the Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. A mesmerizing laser light show lit up the night sky, captivating the assembled devotees. Videos of the magnificent display have been widely shared on social media.

Regarded as the world’s largest congregation, the Maha Kumbh concluded on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath revealed that more than 66.21 crore devotees participated in the sacred bath at the Triveni Sangam throughout the festival.

From January 13 to February 26, countless pilgrims from across India and beyond, including politicians, athletes, industrialists, and Bollywood celebrities, took a holy dip in the sacred waters.

To ensure safety and smooth operations, authorities implemented stringent security measures, including anti-drone systems and AI-enabled cameras to monitor Mahakumbh Nagar. The area, temporarily designated as Uttar Pradesh’s 76th district for the event, covered 40 hectares and remained active 24/7 over the past six weeks.

With its successful completion, Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 has once again reinforced its status as a significant cultural and spiritual gathering, drawing millions in a remarkable celebration of faith and unity.
