Rajiv Thakur, known for his comedic roles in The Kapil Sharma Show, recently impressed audiences with a striking negative role in the Netflix series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack. However, Thakur’s decision to take on the role almost didn’t happen due to a scheduling conflict with Kapil Sharma’s US tour.
In a recent interview, Thakur revealed that it was none other than Kapil Sharma who came to his rescue. Kapil encouraged him to prioritize the web series and even postponed their planned tour to make it possible.
“It’s all thanks to Kapil that I managed to do the show. The series team asked for my dates in June last year, which were already blocked for our America tour. I was ready to say no to the series, but when Kapil found out, he told me, ‘Tu series kar, hum show push kar denge (You do the series, we will push the show),’” Thakur shared, expressing his gratitude for the comedian’s support.
Thakur also highlighted the close bond shared among the Kapil Sharma Show cast, mentioning how Archana Puran Singh reacted to his performance. “Archana ji was so happy and said my recognition was long overdue. She even posted a long note after watching the show,” he revealed.
Kapil Sharma too, watched the show and praised Thakur. “Kapil called me first thing the next morning after watching it late at night, and he was so proud. That made me even happier.”
Rajiv Thakur, now preparing for The Great Indian Kapil Show 2, continues to enjoy the encouragement of his friends and colleagues, proving that true camaraderie exists in the entertainment industry.
