Renowned Telugu film choreographer Jani Master, whose real name is Shaik Jani Basha, has been accused of sexual assault by a 21-year-old female colleague. The shocking allegations have led to the registration of an FIR against him, and the case is currently under investigation.

The complainant, who also works as a choreographer, filed her complaint with the Raidurgam police in Hyderabad, accusing Jani Master of sexually assaulting her during various outdoor shoots. The woman, who had been working with Jani for the past few months, claimed that the assaults took place in multiple locations, including Chennai, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. Additionally, she alleged that the choreographer assaulted her at her residence in Narsingi.

According to senior police officials, the case has now been transferred to Narsingi police due to the woman’s residence being in their jurisdiction. Jani Master has been booked under section 376 (rape), clause (2) and (n), along with charges of criminal intimidation (506) and voluntarily causing hurt (323) under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The woman’s complaint outlines incidents dating back to 2019, stating that she remained silent for years due to threats from the choreographer, who allegedly warned her that she would be thrown out of the industry if she spoke up. The complainant also claimed that Jani Master’s aides intimidated her to keep her quiet.

In response to the growing concern within the film industry, Shikha Goel, Director General of the Women Safety Wing (WSW) of Telangana, advised the film fraternity to initiate an internal inquiry under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) Act. Goel also recommended that the complainant file a case with the police, stating that the matter will be investigated according to legal protocol.

This is not the first time Jani Master has faced legal trouble. Earlier this year, a dancer named Satish filed a case against him, accusing him of harassment. Jani Master is well-known in the Indian film industry, having worked with major actors such as Allu Arjun, Salman Khan, and Jr NTR. He has choreographed popular songs like “Aayi Nai” from Stree 2 and “Arabic Kuthu” from Beast.

As of now, Jani Master has not publicly responded to the accusations.
