Is Sheikh Hasina’s Coming Back As Bangladesh PM?

Rabbi Alam, a close aide of ousted Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Vice President of the United States Awami League, stated on Wednesday that Hasina will return to Bangladesh as Prime Minister. In an interview with news agency ANI, Alam also called for Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor of Bangladesh’s interim government, to “go back where he came from.”

Alam expressed serious concerns about the current situation in Bangladesh, describing it as “under attack” and urged the international community to take action. “Bangladesh is under attack, and it needs to be addressed by the international community. A political uprising is one thing, but what is happening in Bangladesh is a terrorist uprising,” he asserted.

He also expressed gratitude to the Indian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for facilitating Sheikh Hasina’s safe travel, highlighting that many Bangladeshi leaders are currently sheltered in India. “Many of our leaders are sheltered here in India, and we are very thankful to the Indian government for providing this alignment. I also thank PM Narendra Modi for ensuring a safe passage for our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. We are grateful to the people of India,” Alam said.

Alam criticized the student-led protests last year, which became violent and led to Sheikh Hasina’s removal, stating that the protesters “made a mistake” and were “manipulated.” He also voiced strong opposition to Muhammad Yunus, declaring that he doesn’t belong in Bangladesh. “We want to ask the Bangladesh Advisor to step down and go back to where you came from. Dr. Yunus, you do not belong in Bangladesh. This is the message for the people of Bangladesh—Sheikh Hasina is coming back, and she is coming back as the Prime Minister,” Alam stated.

He concluded by addressing the young generation, acknowledging their mistakes but also pointing out that they had been manipulated. “You’ve made a mistake, you’ve done some bad things, but that’s not your fault—you’ve been manipulated,” Alam added.
