Missiles were fired against two bases of the Baloch militant group Jaish al-Adl in Pakistan, according to Iranian official media. The day before, Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards had used missiles to attack targets in Syria and Iraq.
In the vicinity of Iran’s border with Pakistan, the militant group has previously launched attacks against Iranian security forces.
Without providing any additional details, Iranian state media stated, “These bases were hit and destroyed by missiles and drones.”
Pakistan threatened retaliation as Iranian airstrike inside its borders claimed the lives of two children. Pakistan described the attack as a “unprovoked violation of its airspace.”
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, Iran faced “serious consequences” as a result of the attack on its territory, which claimed the lives of “two innocent children while injuring three girls.”
The ministry stated, “What is even more concerning is that this illegal act has occurred despite the fact that Pakistan and Iran have multiple channels of communication.”
Jaish al-Adl, or Army of Justice, is a separatist militant group that operates on both sides of the border and has previously claimed responsibility for attacks against Iranian targets. Its stated goal is the independence of Iran’s Sistan and Baluchistan province.
