Indian Student Goes Missing In US, Father Gets Ransom Call In India

A 25-year-old Hyderabad student has been missing in the US since March 7.

The student Abdul Mohammed’s father Saleem, got a ransom call at his Hyderabad home by an unidentified individual who said that his son had been abducted by a Cleveland drug gang.

The caller threatened to sell Abdul’s kidney to the mafia if the $1200 demanded was not paid, along with other demands for the student’s release.

A lookout notice has been issued after Abdul’s US relatives filed a complaint with the Cleveland police.

In an effort to aid in Abdul’s search, the family has written to the Indian Council in Chicago on March 18.

Abdul Mohammed, who left his family in May 2023 to pursue a Master’s degree in IT at Cleveland University, hasn’t spoken to them since March 7.
