India has formally informed the United States about the arrest of an individual identified as ‘CC1’, who is linked to an ongoing investigation. This development comes as a team of Indian officials prepares to travel to Washington to engage in discussions related to the case.
The Indian government’s notification underscores its commitment to collaboration with the US on critical security matters. The delegation’s visit aims to address the implications of the arrest and explore ways to strengthen bilateral ties, particularly in the realm of counter-terrorism and law enforcement cooperation.
As both nations navigate this sensitive issue, the discussions are expected to focus on sharing information and strategies to enhance mutual security efforts. This incident marks a significant point of dialogue between India and the US, reflecting their ongoing partnership in addressing global challenges.
The DOJ indictment has identified CC1 as a serving official in the Government of India, alleging that this individual directed a plot to assassinate Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a designated terrorist in India and an American national, in New York in June 2023. Earlier this year, in an April report, the Washington Post named CC1 as Vikram Yadav.
