India Lose To Australia in U-19 World Cup 2024 Final By 79 Runs

India lost heartbreakingly to Australia in the Under-19 World Cup 2024 final in Benoni on Sunday. The team led by Uday Saharan lost the summit match by a score of 79 runs. Australia have been crowned champions for the fourth time in the U19 World Cup.

In the chase for 254, opener Adarsh Singh and Murugan Abhishek made contributions with innings of 47 and 42, respectively, but other Indian batsmen were unable to match them. In 43.5 overs, the team was bowled out for 174.

Fast bowler Raj Limbani earlier returned figures of 3 for 38 in his 10 overs, but Australia managed to post a record-breaking 253 for 7, the highest total in the tournament’s history. With a 55-run knock, Harjas Singh led Australia in scoring runs.

In the last seven months alone, Australia has beaten India thrice in the final of a global tournament—first in the World Test Championship (WTC) final at The Oval, then the ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad and now in the U-19 World Cup summit clash in Benoni.
