The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Monday that its fighter jets conducted strikes on 25 Hezbollah Executive Council targets. The strikes, carried out in the afternoon, targeted multiple locations across Nabatieh, Baalbek, Bekaa Valley, Dahieh, and Beirut.
According to the IDF, dozens of command centers and control posts were destroyed in the operation. The targets included command rooms and intelligence-gathering facilities used by Hezbollah commanders and operatives. The IDF stated that the strikes have significantly disrupted Hezbollah’s Executive Council’s ability to coordinate its operatives, plan terror attacks against Israeli civilians and forces, and recover or gather intelligence following previous IDF operations.
The Executive Council is Hezbollah’s supreme administrative body, responsible for managing the organization’s cultural, educational, social, and political affairs. It oversees various units across Lebanon, including information and media, education, health, and finance, as detailed by Eye on Hezbollah, a project of the American Coalition Against Nuclear Iran (ACANI).
The Council was previously headed by Hashem Safieddine, who was killed last month in an IDF strike in Beirut alongside other senior Hezbollah officials. The IDF highlighted that Hezbollah has used the Executive Council to exploit Lebanon’s health and education systems to support its terrorist activities. It also noted that the Al-Qard Al-Hassan Association, a financial body under the Council, functions as part of a money-laundering network that operates at the expense of the Lebanese public. This association was exposed and targeted in IDF strikes last month.
The IDF emphasized that the strikes were a critical blow to Hezbollah’s infrastructure and its ability to function effectively, reaffirming its commitment to neutralizing threats to Israeli security.
