In a disturbing turn of events, the Mumbai police have initiated action against an HR manager of a private company for reportedly soliciting sexual favors from a 23-year-old woman in exchange for the release of her deceased father’s provident fund (PF). The incident, brought to light on Wednesday, has shocked residents of Bandra (East) as the victim bravely stepped forward to report the egregious misconduct.
The victim, a domestic worker residing with her younger brother and grandmother, found herself entangled in a distressing situation regarding her father’s PF, following his demise in 2015 when she was merely 15 years old. Despite being named as the nominee for her father’s provident fund, the woman encountered persistent delays in its disbursement, allegedly due to bureaucratic hurdles within the company.
Faced with mounting frustrations over the prolonged wait, the woman took the brave step of approaching the HR manager of the company. Shockingly, instead of addressing her legitimate concerns, the HR manager purportedly made lewd demands, requesting sexual favors from the vulnerable woman in exchange for expediting the release of the PF.
According to reports from the Times of India, the victim meticulously documented the incriminating conversations with the accused, providing damning evidence to the authorities. Prompt action followed, with the Mumbai police lodging a case against the HR manager under pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act.
The accused is at large and the police have launched a manhunt to nab him.
