How The Rs. 125 Cr Prize Money For Team India Will Be Distributed

Team India’s triumphant T20 World Cup 2024 campaign not only brought immense pride but also a substantial financial reward. Rohit Sharma’s side earned a handsome prize of Rs. 125 crore for their outstanding performance in the global cricketing event held in the United States of America and the West Indies. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to distribute this prize money among the entire 42-member contingent, which includes 15 first-team players, support staff, reserves, and other essential personnel.

According to a news report, the distribution of the prize money will vary based on the roles and contributions of each member. The 15 players of the Indian team, including those who didn’t get a chance to play in any match, will each receive Rs. 5 crore. Head coach Rahul Dravid will also receive Rs. 5 crore from the prize pool, reflecting his crucial role in the team’s success.

The coaching staff, comprising batting coach Vikram Rathour, fielding coach T Dilip, and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, will each receive Rs. 2.5 crore. Additionally, the selection committee members, including their chief Ajit Agarkar, will be awarded Rs. 1 crore each for their contributions to assembling the winning squad.

Among the support staff, various roles have been acknowledged with significant rewards. The three physiotherapists, three throwdown specialists, two masseurs, and the strength and conditioning coach will each receive Rs. 2 crore. “Players and support staff have been informed about the amount of prize money they will be receiving from the BCCI, and we have asked everyone to submit an invoice,” a BCCI source told the paper.

The BCCI also recognized the efforts of the reserve players who were part of the squad for the T20 World Cup. Rinku Singh, Shubman Gill, Avesh Khan, and Khaleel Ahmed, who were named as reserves, will each be rewarded with a sum of INR 1 crore. BCCI secretary Jay Shah had previously stated, “As far as Rs 125 crore is concerned, it will cover the players, support staff, coaches, and selectors as well. Everyone.”

The team’s return to India was marked by a grand welcome, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced an additional cash reward of Rs. 11 crore for the team, further adding to the celebratory mood. This victory not only signifies a monumental achievement on the field but also showcases the collective effort and dedication of everyone involved in the journey to becoming world champions.

The meticulous planning and execution by the BCCI and the coaching staff played a pivotal role in Team India’s success. The preparation included extensive training sessions, strategic planning, and a focus on both physical and mental fitness. The support staff’s efforts in ensuring the players’ well-being and readiness for each game were crucial in navigating the challenges of an international tournament.

This victory also underscores the importance of a well-rounded team, where every member, from the main squad to the reserves and support staff, plays an integral part in the team’s overall success. The substantial financial rewards are a testament to the value placed on each individual’s contribution, fostering a culture of appreciation and motivation within the team.

As Team India basks in the glory of their T20 World Cup win, the distribution of the prize money serves as a reminder of the collaborative effort behind their triumph. The financial rewards are not just a celebration of their victory but also an investment in the continued success and morale of the team, ensuring that every member feels valued and motivated for future challenges.
