In a significant reshuffle, Greater Chennai Police Commissioner Sandeep Rai Rathore has been transferred and appointed as the director of the Tamil Nadu Police Training College. This move comes just three days after the brutal murder of the state Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief, K. Armstrong.
Thiru A. Arun, who previously served as the Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), has been appointed as the new City Police Commissioner. Concurrently, Thiru S. Davidson Devasirvatham has been named the new Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), according to an official notice from the state’s Home Secretariat.
K. Armstrong, the Tamil Nadu BSP leader, was tragically hacked to death by six bike-borne assailants outside his residence in Chennai’s Perambur on Friday evening. Despite being rushed to a private hospital, he was declared dead upon arrival.
The police have launched an intensive investigation into Armstrong’s murder, with efforts underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but authorities are exploring all possible angles to bring the culprits to justice.
