Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader HD Deve Gowda has called for thorough and impartial action in the ongoing sexual harassment case implicating his son HD Revanna and grandson Prajwal Revanna. Deve Gowda, who turned 92 today, emphasized that no individual involved should be spared, asserting the need for accountability and justice.
In a statement to News18, Deve Gowda underscored the importance of legal action, noting that many individuals were implicated in the case. “Prajwal has gone outside the country. HD Kumaraswamy has already stated that action as per law should be taken. I will not take their names. Many are involved in this and there should be action against them also,” Gowda said.
The former Prime Minister also mentioned the recent developments surrounding his grandson Prajwal, who is currently absconding and believed to be abroad. Prajwal, a JD(S) Lok Sabha MP and candidate from the Hassan constituency, is the primary accused in an alleged sex video scandal.
Highlighting the judicial proceedings, Gowda referred to his son HD Revanna, a JD(S) MLA who was recently jailed and released on conditional bail in connection with a kidnap case related to the same scandal. “Action against Prajwal will be taken. But regarding HD Revanna, people have seen what has been done against him. HD Kumaraswamy has already said that relief amounts should be provided to victims. HD Revanna has got bail in the court and one more order is pending. I am saying action needs to be taken against all of them who are involved in this. No one should be spared,” he added.
Deve Gowda’s remarks come amid ongoing efforts to bring Prajwal Revanna back to India to face the charges. The former Prime Minister’s decision to cancel his birthday celebrations reflects his somber stance on the matter, emphasizing the gravity of the allegations and the need for justice for the victims.
