Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) supremo, HD Deve Gowda, has issued a stern warning to his grandson, Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, who faces multiple allegations of sexual abuse. In an official statement shared on social media platform X, Gowda urged Prajwal to return, surrender to the police, and face the legal process, or face the wrath of the Gowda family.
Gowda’s statement, titled “My Warning to Prajwal Revanna,” conveyed a mix of sternness and emotional appeal. He emphasized that Prajwal must subject himself to the legal process without further delay, asserting, “If he does not heed this warning, he will have to face my anger and the anger of all his family members.”
The former PM expressed his disappointment over the allegations, stating that it took him time to recover from the shock and pain inflicted on him, the JDS party workers, his entire family, and friends. He made it clear that while the law will handle the accusations, Prajwal’s disregard for family concerns would lead to his isolation.
Referring to his own inability to defend Prajwal against various accusations and conspiracies, Gowda emphasized their stance that the harshest punishment must be accorded if Prajwal is found guilty.
Prajwal, who left the country on a diplomatic passport for Germany on April 2, is currently facing investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) into allegations of sexual abuse. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and cancel Prajwal’s diplomatic passport to secure his return for questioning.
Gowda’s elder son, HD Revanna, was previously arrested by the SIT in connection with the case and subsequently released.
The former PM concluded his statement by stressing the importance of earning back the trust of the people of Karnataka, whom he has served for over six decades. He expressed his commitment never to let them down.
