In a shocking incident on Wednesday, a five-year-old nursery student brought a handgun to his school and opened fire on a fellow student, injuring a ten-year-old boy. The incident took place at a private school in the Lalpatti area of Supaul district.
According to Superintendent of Police Shaishav Yadav, the young boy had the firearm concealed in his bag. “The student fired at a ten-year-old boy, who studies in the same school in Class 3. The bullet hit his arm,” Yadav reported.
The injured child was promptly taken to a nearby hospital where he is currently receiving treatment. Authorities are investigating how the young boy obtained the firearm and managed to bring it into the school unnoticed.
In response to the incident, SP Yadav announced increased security measures. “We are asking schools across the district to ensure that bags of students are checked thoroughly on a regular basis. The incident has caused much anxiety among parents and guardians,” he stated.
This alarming event has raised concerns about student safety and the availability of firearms. Parents and guardians are urged to remain vigilant and ensure that dangerous items are kept out of the reach of children.
