FB, Insta Servers Down For An Hour In India, Other Countries

Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Messenger, and other Meta-managed platforms were unavailable to thousands of users in India and other countries on Tuesday night for more than an hour.
On Facebook and Instagram, users were unable to send messages, load apps, or refresh their search feeds. According to the website, there were over 20,000 reports of outages on Instagram and over 300,000 reports of outages on Facebook. A number of users were unable to log back into their Facebook accounts after they were logged out due to an outage.

A technical problem earlier today made it difficult for some users to access some of our services. Andy Stone, a spokesman for Meta, stated, “We apologized for any inconvenience caused and quickly resolved the issue for everyone who was affected.”
Downdetector, a company that tracks outages by compiling status reports from multiple sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform, revealed that the outages were not limited to India but also occurred in the US, UK, Australia, and Brazil.

WhatsApp, also owned by Meta, did not report any outage, but newly launched X rival Threads was down.

Within minutes of the outage, people moved to Elon Musk-owned X. #Instagramdown, Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg are trending on the social media platform, with users sharing memes over the global server issue.

As users jumped to X to find out more about the outage, the social media giant made a cheeky comment, saying “We know why you all are here right now.”

Elon Musk, the owner of X, wasn’t far behind, he took a jibe at Meta and said, “If you’re reading this post, it’s because our servers are working.”
